My gratefulness bucket is overflowing after this weekend. It has been a busy and FUN one! I was away at an Ontario Cup watching my boyfriend race mountain bikes in Haliburton. It was my first time up there, my first time at Sir Sam's Ski & Bike AND my first time watching Andrew race "mountain bikes". There were a lot of firsts this weekend SO I think that makes for an awesome first "grateful" wouldn't you?!?! FIRSTS!!!
Instead of mountain biking this weekend, I decided to go for a ride on the road to check out the scenery while Andrew and his racers pre-rode the course. I pedaled alongside Eagle Lake which has lots of what I like to call "money shot" views! The terrain was mostly rolling consisting of short punchy climbs so I got in some "smart" hill training. :) I didn't get a chance to post on here but I was thinking of all sorts of things I was grateful for throughout the entire trip. I might as well start listing them here. There really were so many more! Great conversations, special moments, making memories, smart people, fun people, off-the-beaten path accommodations, lakes, greenery, the smell of a dry forest (you know that pine needle-ish smell?), for the word "ish", good energy, heat (yep it was hot!), for sweating and good times! Ya I think that makes up for a few days missed. Also, I'm so grateful for dragonflies. They are my favourite insect EVER!!! I was so sad when we driving up because we kept hitting them off our windshield. Eecks! :( Happy for all the ones that dodged us! Anyway, I just love them. Last year was my first real experience with them. They always seem to fly up right in front of my face as I ride and then carry on their way. Such beauty! When I think of or see a dragonfly, I associate the word "freedom" with it. Not sure why...I just do. Hope y'all had a wonderful weekend too!
