Lately I have been a tad busy with a course I’m currently in and becoming a new owner of my very first home :) but I wanted to take the time to share something with you that is really special to me especially since some of you played a part in this. As a part of my course, I was instructed to complete an interesting little exercise where I had to ask 25 people that I know what they thought my 3 best qualities were. I created an anonymous survey and decided to ask more than 25 people in hopes that I would get 25 responses. AND success! I got a whopping 29 responses to my survey. Amaze-balls!!! I was totally humbled by the experience and with what you all had to say and want to send a special thank you to all for taking the time to respond. Muchas gracias a todos! In celebration, I created a collage of all the words that were used to describe my strengths. The largest words are the ones that I received the most of and I seriously could not be prouder. Next up is getting this printed to hang on my wall and put on my very own coffee mug! AND the best part is that you can do this too and below is the HOW TO! Enjoy! 1. Email at least 25 people you know and ask them what they feel are your three best qualities using Survey Monkey. You can create a free survey with Survey Monkey (www.surveymonkey.com) if you want your responses to remain anonymous. I found my anonymous survey to be EXTREMELY successful so I highly suggest doing it that way. Also don’t be shy to ask your peeps this question. I was so pleasantly surprised by the responses and there were things people saw in me that I would have never thought about myself! 2. Cut and paste all responses into a Word document. Once you have a fair number of responses cut and paste them into a Word document. You may get 10 responses that say “enthusiasm” so be sure to paste them all into your Word document separately. Some people may write in sentences so for this I would take one word from it or use one word for what they were describing about me. For example, one of my friends said “1. You are conscientious (in all ways - about work, about friends) with strong values 2. You are open-minded about possibilities and never afraid to try something new 3. You are a good-hearted person.” So I created a few words out of that “conscientious, strong-values, open-minded, courage and good-hearted”. I will explain why I used dashes between the words in my next point. 3. Create a Word Cloud using Wordle. This is the really fun part! Woot! Go to Wordle (www.wordle.net) and click Create. You then cut and paste the words from your Word document into the space provided and click Go. You can then play around with fonts, colours and different designs to create a beautiful little masterpiece to remind yourself of every day! Be sure to hyphenate two words if someone has used two to describe you like “good-hearted”. The reason for this is if you put in a sentence it will put all the words in separately and sporadically. Wordle also automatically tallies what words are being used more than once which in turns will make that particular word bigger. You will see in my Word Cloud that what people said the most was my “enthusiasm”.
